What started as a classic homebrewers-in-a-garage story has matured into a 9,000-square-foot brewery, taproom and beer garden that anchors the neighborhood’s ongoing revitalization. From Garage Homebrew to Downtown Destination
Bond Brothers began the way so many great breweries do: with a group of friends brewing at home and entering local competitions. Founders Jay Bond, Jeremy Bond, Whit Baker and Andy Schnitzer turned that shared passion into a professional operation, choosing downtown Cary specifically because of the revitalization movement taking shape there. Their bet paid off. Today the brewery sits at the center of a walkable district full of restaurants, shops and the nearby Downtown Cary Park, and it has become a fixture for locals and visitors alike.
Brewmaster Whit Baker, a Certified Cicerone, leads the brewing team with an emphasis on education and craft. The result is a program that takes technique seriously without ever taking itself too seriously.
The Beer: Saisons, Sours and a Barrel Program
Bond Brothers keeps around 14 unique beers on tap at any given time, spanning everything from crisp lagers and hop-forward IPAs to rich stouts. You will find Bond Brothers at 202 East Cedar Street, an easy walk from the rest of downtown Cary’s dining and nightlife. The brewery opens in the early afternoon Monday through Thursday and at midday on weekends, staying open latest on Friday and Saturday nights. As with many North Carolina craft breweries, there is no full kitchen on site, so it is worth checking the schedule for a rotating food truck or planning to pair your pints with a bite from one of the surrounding restaurants.
