Brewery Bhavana: Dim Sum, Craft Beer, Books and Blooms in Downtown Raleigh
Tucked into the Moore Square district at 218 S Blount Street, Brewery Bhavana is one of downtown Raleigh’s most beloved and unmistakable destinations. Part dim sum house, part craft brewery, part flower shop and part bookstore, it gathers four distinct experiences under a single sunlit roof. Step inside and you are met with lush greenery, blond wood, long communal tables and shelves lined with books and fresh blooms — a space designed to feel less like a restaurant and more like a living room for the whole city.
Dim Sum Worth Gathering Around
At its heart, Brewery Bhavana is a dim sum house, and the kitchen turns out an all-day spread of steamed and fried small plates made for sharing. Delicate soup dumplings, house-made buns and a rotating cast of dumplings anchor the menu, alongside standout dishes like crisp scallion pancakes served with rich roasted bone marrow. Larger plates such as Peking duck round out the table, giving groups plenty of reasons to order generously and linger. The tapas-style, shareable format makes it an easy pick for date nights, celebrations and long, unhurried lunches alike.
Belgian-Inspired Beer, Made In-House
True to its name, Brewery Bhavana brews its own beer, with a lineup of Belgian-inspired ales built to pair naturally with the kitchen’s bright, layered flavors. The brewing philosophy emphasizes craft and the hand of the maker, and the taproom setting invites guests to settle in over a flight, a glass of wine or a cocktail. It is a rare place where the beer program and the food menu are given equal care, and where a well-poured pint feels right at home beside a bamboo steamer of dumplings.
Flowers, Books and a Family Story
What truly sets Brewery Bhavana apart are the flowers and books woven into the space. A working florist fills the room with arrangements you can take home, while a curated bookstore invites browsing between courses. The concept comes from the Nolintha family, the same team behind the acclaimed Laotian restaurant Bida Manda just steps away. Since opening in 2017, Brewery Bhavana has drawn national attention for its beauty and hospitality, and today it carries a Michelin Guide recommendation — a testament to the care behind every detail.
A Downtown Raleigh Landmark
Location is part of the magic. Sitting in the walkable Moore Square neighborhood, Brewery Bhavana is surrounded by galleries, shops and some of Raleigh’s best independent dining, making it a natural anchor for a day or evening downtown. Whether you are picking up a bouquet, hunting for your next read or settling in for a leisurely dim sum feast, the space rewards the curious and welcomes newcomers and longtime regulars with the same easy warmth.
