About

Peck & Plume: Modern American Dining at The Mayton in Downtown Cary

Set inside The Mayton boutique hotel on South Academy Street, Peck & Plume is one of downtown Cary’s most polished places to eat—an inviting modern American restaurant open to the public for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.

A Boutique-Hotel Restaurant with a View

Peck & Plume opened in 2021 as the in-house restaurant of The Mayton, a boutique hotel overlooking downtown Cary’s town park. Its name nods to the park’s birdlife, and the interior features custom North Carolina flora-and-fauna wallpaper by a local artist—a fitting backdrop for a restaurant that leans on regional ingredients.

The Menu: Approachable and Seasonal

Under chef Steve Zanini, a veteran of the Wake County dining scene, the kitchen turns out approachable modern American fare. The namesake Mayton Burger and Mayton Wings are crowd-pleasers, while dishes like shrimp and grits with bourbon-tasso gravy and chicken and waffles headline a well-loved weekend brunch.

Spaces for Every Occasion

Beyond the dining room, Peck & Plume offers an outdoor terrace and lawn for cocktails, a cozy study for morning meetings, and a handsome bar—making it as suited to a quiet breakfast as to a celebratory dinner.
