About
Sassool: Family-Made Lebanese and Mediterranean Food in North Raleigh
On Strickland Road in North Raleigh, Sassool is a fast-casual Lebanese and Mediterranean spot where the deli case does the talking. Fresh hummus, tabbouleh, shawarma, and house-baked pita draw a loyal crowd to a restaurant built on three generations of family recipes.
A Family Recipe Box, Decades in the Making
Sassool’s story begins in 1977, when Lebanese immigrant matriarch Cecilia Saleh—nicknamed “Sassool” as a child—and her sons founded Neomonde Baking Company in Raleigh after fleeing the Lebanese civil war. This Strickland Road location was formerly a Neomonde; in 2014, Cecilia’s son Mounir Saleh rebranded it as Sassool in his mother’s honor, cooking from her recipe books. Today, Mounir’s daughters, Noelle and Simone, run the day-to-day, carrying the family tradition forward.
Order at the Case
The concept is simple and satisfying: walk up to the deli case, pick from an array of fresh-made salads and sides, and build a plate. The Pick-4 sampler is a customer favorite for exactly this reason, letting you mix hummus, tabbouleh, kibbeh, and more in a single meal. Chicken shawarma plates and char-grilled kabob platters anchor the hot side of the menu, and the baklava is worth saving room for.
Casual, Fresh, and Welcoming
With counter service, a patio, on-site parking, and beer and wine, Sassool is an easy, family-friendly stop for a quick, healthy meal. It’s the kind of neighborhood spot that regulars fold into their weekly routine.
